Geri Tales III

Bobaliscious: What day is it?

Rosie: May 5th

Bobaliscious: Hmm, May 5th.

Rosie: Hey Bob, what day is it? (Because this is what I do, ask people with dementia to tell me what day it is every time I see them because I want them to be oriented, but does it really matter? NO. The best is when they say, why do you keep asking me that, there is a calendar right over there.)

Bobaliscious: What, do you think I am that senile that I don't even know what day it is!? It's Wednesday! (actually, it's Tuesday)

Rosie: Hey Bob, did you know it is Cinco de Mayo

Bobaliscious: Cinco de Mayo? Well it's a big day for the Chicanos! And a big day for the Mexicans! I'll tell you what a real holiday is, St. Patrick's Day, now that's a big day for the Irish. We have a big parade, and I'm telling you it's the best party you ever saw.

Rosie: I bet it is. Hey, Bob, what day is it?

Bobaliscious: Wednesday.

Geri Tales: Breakfast Time

Arly May: What is this? (Holds up a piece of French toast)

Rosie: Thats French toast

Arly May: I'm no dummy, but there's nothing French about this, its just toast! (throws the FRENCH toast on the table)

Rosie: Well, you have to put syrup and butter on it, then it will taste French.

Arly May: Are you calling me a liar? Taste it, and you'll know, it isn't French.

Rosie: No thank you, I can't eat your food.

Arly May: You people are crazy, thinking I am going to eat that stuff, plain old toast, who do you think you are calling it French. I know French and that isn't it.

Rosie: Could I get you some fried eggs and toast?

Arly May: That sounds good, I'll eat that.

Ahh, Dementia

Beddenbreakfast...

We have had visits from family and friends almost every weekend since the year began, unfortunately we didn't digitally document most of the visits, but luckily we did capture some moments from the cutest of our boarders, Little Rose, spawn of Milmonsters.

We played Jungle Gym on Uncle Hoss...

...almost made it...

...Uncle Hoss won.

When it was time to leave, Uncle Hoss tried to hide her from MamaMilmonster. She found her, but not until we got a nice high pitched "Where'd she go!?!" from the Mama.

Eventually she had to go, but we miss her and hope she comes back soon. She can bring the rents along too if she wants...

A Noble Profession

This is what my dear older brother does to poor little kids...everyday.

Geri Tales

Therapist: Rosarita*
Patient: Penny (85 yrs old)

R: Hey Penny, what do you have hiding under your shirt? (large bulge in the right tummy/hip area)
P: What do you mean?
R: Don't you have a pocket for your tissues? (pat-pat)
P: That's my breast.
R: Whoops, I didn't realize you weren't wearing a brazier
P: Sweetie, I quit wearing those years ago.
R: Sorry, I didn't mean to, ah, grope you. (Hmm, don't really know what to do now) How do you feel about going to therapy with me now?
